It is a beautiful collection of the rich cultural heritage of the Chamoru people!

As early as 500 A.D., ancient Chamorus built their houses on top of the stone pillars known as LATTE stones. It is believed that ancient Chamorus buried their ancestors underneath their homes and their spirits remained in the Latte Stones. No other cultural artifact is more representative of the ancient Chamorus than the Latte Stone. The outline of the Latte Stone, consists of a pillar (Haligi) and a cup (Tasa). Presently, the latte stone is a model for a wide array of items: from fence posts to flower pots and adornments in the back and front yards of homes and buildings. The most fitting tribute that we can now pay to the latte stone would be to leave them in peace and tranquility at various locations in the jungle back home in the islands. We must continue to respect and honor their presence. Visit our Chamoru Village at our next event or we would be happy to set it up at your next event!
